Chris Hodder, my Real Estate Agent: A Review
My name is Paul A. Issahaku (Ph.D). I am an Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland School of Social Work. It is my pleasure to reflect on my encounter with Chris Hodder as a Realtor when I took that all important but scary step toward buying a home for the first time. Anyone who has gone through this process is well aware of the excitement but also the anxiety that grips you. Sure, my wife and I had saved up enough money to be able to make the down payment for a home mortgage. We were excited at the prospects of ceasing to be tenants and becoming home owners. But how were we to be sure that we would land a deal that was well worth the trouble? This is where Chris comes in as the real deal.
Chris was recommended for me by Paul Adjei Banahene (Ph.D), a friend and work colleague. During our first meeting, which happened in my own apartment, Chris convinced me he was the right person to work with for my home purchase project. I am glad I settled for him. In the weeks that followed our first meeting in October 2016 Chris worked to address my anxiety regarding:
1. The question of ensuring that I got a property that was worth the quoted price,
2. The need for a property at a good location, with potential for increased value over time,
3. How to negotiate with sellers for a good deal,
4. How to arrange the mortgage, which brokerage firm to go to, and
5. How much legal advice to get and which law firm to go to.
To say that I was impressed with Chris’ professionalism in the lead up to my mortgage arrangement is an understatement. Chris did not only help me with information to make informed decisions, he offered to take me to the places I needed to visit in his own automobile. Something very outstanding about Chris as Real Estate Agent is his honesty, propriety and commitment to serving the best interests of his clients. Chris wouldn’t allow you settle on a deal that he feels has no value for money. Chris works on the principle of Value for Money or No Deal. Chris works for you the buyer although you are not the one to pay his fees when the deal is closed. Chris puts quality and value for the buyer beyond all monetary considerations.
Today, thanks to the professional services of Chris as my Realtor, I own a first class home in a coveted neighborhood, with a mortgage that beats the competition in terms of the interest rate and flexibility of the arrangement. So what to say about Chris Hodder, well I first heard of him from my aunt who said the he was the best guy for the job and after meeting a few times I have to agree. He was very accommodating, he always made it work for showings no matter what time we ask he would always work it out. Yet that was still not the best part, so being that this was my first home I didn't really know what I should be looking for, But with Chris at our side it felt like he knew the questions even before we asked, and told us what we should be looking for and what to watch for. He was amazing, always on top of everything weather it was building codes or just pointing out things that we would have never seen ( water damage in the closet).
When we did find the home we were looking for Chris gave us all the information for the home inspector, lawyers, and anything else we needed, Now that a few years have passed when we hear someone looking for a house we always tell them to give Chris a call and everyone we have ever sent his way love him. He is a great man, funny, and most of all an excellent agent.
